Vogue Netherlands presents an expansive fashion editorial featuring the evocative designs of Zoe Karssen. This series seamlessly transitions between stark, architectural studio work and moody, outdoor lifestyle portraits, effectively blurring the line between high-fashion editorial and cinematic storytelling. Under the creative oversight of fashion editor and stylist Linda Gumus Gerritsen, the project leans into a compelling visual contrast, juxtaposing delicate, ruffled lace and ethereal white textiles against rugged, industrial backdrops like gas stations and weathered woodland trunks. Model Elina Gunawardena anchors the narrative, moving fluidly from avant-garde silhouettes in structural headwear to softer, windswept coastal moments. The aesthetic is defined by its masterful use of natural light and low-key chiaroscuro techniques, which bring a tactile, intimate depth to every frame. Hair and makeup artist Magdalena Loza enhances this versatility, pivoting between clean, polished portraiture and raw, atmospheric moods that feel both timeless and deeply contemporary. By marrying these varied environmental textures with an impeccable focus on fabric detail—from sequined peplums to intricate scalloped plackets—the work succeeds as a sophisticated exploration of modern feminine style. Through these lenses, the project functions as a dynamic study in light and shadow, capturing the intersection of avant-garde structure and organic, raw beauty in a way that feels both deliberate and daringly candid.
