Description

In the Swim project for The Gentlewoman, the boundaries between high-fashion editorial and swimwear are masterfully blurred. Through a series of minimalist portraits, the campaign recontextualizes the functional bodysuit and one-piece swimsuit as foundational layers in a complex sartorial narrative. Photographed by Deo Suveera and Pamela Dimitrov, the imagery leans into a refined aesthetic, utilizing soft, natural light and a neutral studio backdrop to emphasize the interplay between form, texture, and structure. Under the vision of fashion editor and stylist Louis Prier Tisdall, the project experiments with layering, juxtaposing sleek, form-fitting swimwear with heavy wool tailoring, crisp architectural capes, and vibrant, patterned blouses. This strategic layering transforms traditional swim staples into sophisticated, multi-dimensional ensembles. The editorial benefits from the polished grooming of hair stylist Kim Rance and makeup artist Anne Sophie Costa, who collectively lean into a clean, understated look that keeps the focus squarely on the clothing. Featuring model Caitlin Soetendal, the series operates with an editorial minimalism that feels both contemporary and timeless. By capturing these juxtapositions—from deep-hued wool coats to pinstriped shirting—the campaign challenges the seasonal limitations of its subject matter, ultimately creating a compelling study of modern style that prioritizes graphic contrast and precise, tactile detail throughout every frame.
