Sixteen Journal presents a collection of covers for its April 2025 issue, serving as a showcase of diverse photographic approaches and high-end editorial art direction. The series spans varied visual languages, from extreme close-up portraits under dramatic, moody lighting to raw, monochrome documentary-style captures featuring grainy textures and analogue film techniques. The project features work from photographers Emily Lipson, Jack Davison, Joe Lai, and Sonia Szóstak. Through a mix of high-key studio setups and low-key chiaroscuro compositions, the covers explore themes of technical craft and expressive portraiture. Fashion direction by Victoire Simonney and Ai Kamoshita, alongside set design by Alice Kirkpatrick and Viola Vitali, anchors the aesthetic across the vertical layouts.
