Sixteen Journal explores themes of ritual and isolation in 'Places of Worship', an editorial photography series captured by Michael Bailey Gates. The project employs a raw, tactile aesthetic, utilizing monochrome film techniques and natural light to emphasize the interplay between the human form and weathered, elemental textures. Across coastal landscapes and rustic interiors, the imagery navigates surreal and minimalist visual narratives that lean into earthy, organic environments. The editorial features contributions from a wide creative team, including fashion styling by Shawn Lakin, set design by Ava Villafañe, hair by Rob Talty, and makeup by Sandy Ganzer. On-camera talent includes Jane Moseley and Bobbi Salvör Menuez, with the photographer also appearing as a subject within several tableaux.
