SHADOWPLAY Magazine
SOMETHING LIKE COUTURE

Mar 2026
SOMETHING LIKE COUTURE for SHADOWPLAY Magazine is an evocative exploration of high-fashion editorial portraiture that masterfully bridges the gap between traditional tailoring and conceptual artistry. Photographer Antonino Cafiero harnesses the power of natural light and low-key chiaroscuro techniques to create a cinematic, moody atmosphere that feels both timeless and avant-garde. The editorial leans into a striking monochrome palette, occasionally interrupted by bold, deliberate bursts of crimson, as seen in the recurring motifs of oversized bows and vibrant floral accents. With creative direction and styling by Brando Prizzon, the project showcases an eclectic range of silhouettes—from voluminous, pleated mauve capes to structured, oversized tuxedo jackets—all set against the backdrop of weathered, historic interiors. The casting, curated by Nicolas Bianciotto, features Pierrick Grégoire and other talent who embody a calm, contemplative stillness that lets the intricate textures of the garments and the environment take center stage. Through the meticulous work of hair stylist Roger Cho and makeup artist Andrey Sebaoun, the project shifts between raw minimalism and surreal transformation, notably in the metallic silver-leaf portraiture. With set design by Rebecca Ilse anchoring the subjects in rustic, architectural spaces, this body of work reads as a sophisticated dialogue between the sculptural qualities of clothing and the fragile humanity of the subject, successfully defining a distinct, high-end editorial vision.
