Brand Identity

Dec 2019
For the Berlin-based Pop-Kultur festival, the team at Fertig Design has crafted a striking brand identity that bridges the gap between deep space exploration and the visceral, raw energy of the live music scene. By grounding the event’s visual narrative in high-contrast nebulae and dense, atmospheric star clusters, the design team creates a celestial aesthetic that feels both expansive and immediate. This commercial project masterfully employs bold, sans-serif typography that cuts through the ethereal cosmic backgrounds, ensuring essential lineup information remains legible whether wheatpasted onto weathered urban concrete or displayed in a clean, professional grid. The execution leans into a cinematic quality, particularly during the live concert documentation where the branding is projected against the backdrop of focused stage lights, creating a cohesive dialogue between the event’s printed materials and its physical presence in the city. The use of natural light in the outdoor installations adds a tactile, lived-in texture that contrasts beautifully with the polished, high-resolution imagery seen in the flat-lay brochure compositions. By balancing artistic, space-themed visual storytelling with the practical demands of a multi-day festival, the identity functions as a versatile framework. This design system ultimately captures the spirit of the event, grounding abstract galactic wonder in the urban reality of the festival landscape while maintaining a sharp, unified graphic edge.
