For The Utopian, an editorial project featured in Other Scenes Magazine, photographer Alex Huanfa Cheng and fashion director Julie Ragolia explore the intersection of minimalist tailoring and modernist architecture. The series utilizes hard light and clean geometric compositions to frame its subjects against stark, expansive urban landscapes and neoclassical residential structures. Technically driven by natural light and grainy textures, the work leans into a refined, introspective aesthetic. The narrative is punctuated by architectural motifs, from tiled pillars to concrete piers, complemented by set design from Pierre-Alexandre Fillaire. Featuring models Merel Roggeveen and Mike Vasilakis, the editorial balances structured outerwear with an earthy color palette and deliberate, quiet poses.
