Les Insoumis is a fashion editorial for Numéro France, captured by photographer Marc de Groot. The series leans into a moody, high-contrast aesthetic that emphasizes the tactile qualities of contemporary tailoring, utilizing both controlled studio environments and raw, outdoor woodland settings. Each frame prioritizes form and texture, from voluminous feathered collars and shaggy fur wraps to structured leather outerwear and architectural tailoring. The project features styling by Charles Varenne, who utilizes dark, monochromatic palettes to ground the editorial’s gritty tone. Featuring models Marrit Krikke, Lars Post, and Braien Vaiksaar, the imagery makes extensive use of natural light and chiaroscuro techniques to heighten the emotional intensity of the subjects. Casting by Paul Louisor and grooming by hair and makeup artist Irena Ruben complete the visual narrative, resulting in a series that relies on analogue film-inspired compositions.
