Mugler Alien

Mar 2026
Mugler breathes new life into the iconic Alien fragrance lineage with a campaign that masterfully pivots between high-end editorial polish and gritty, urban realism. Captured through the lens of photographer Byron Mollinedo, the imagery leans into a cinematic visual language that emphasizes the stark contrast between the brand's celestial, otherworldly aura and the cold, concrete reality of an office-bound metropolis. The project adopts an editorial aesthetic that feels both deliberate and raw, utilizing natural light to ground the subject against repeating rectangular window panes, which serve as a rhythmic, architectural frame for the deep, saturated reds of the talent's structured tailoring. With art direction by Theophile Hermand, the campaign successfully bridges the gap between commercial fragrance storytelling and sophisticated lifestyle portraiture. By focusing on the interplay of soft, directional light against textured grey facades, the visuals highlight the vibrant purple glass of the bottle as the central focal point of the composition. Every element—from the sharp, draped collar of the wrap dress to the model’s intense, direct gaze—works to anchor the scent in a grounded, tangible setting. This collaboration marks a compelling shift in how the fragrance is perceived, favoring a moody, layered approach that prioritizes atmospheric texture over traditional studio artifice, resulting in a refined look that feels distinctly current.
