MoMA PS1
Brand Identity

Jul 2026
The latest brand identity project for MoMA PS1 masterfully bridges the gap between institutional prestige and contemporary street culture, creating a cohesive visual language that feels both urgent and timeless. Through a sophisticated array of branded merchandise and site-specific environmental graphics, the project leans into a bold palette of neon yellow, cyan, and deep green to signal a shift in the institution's public-facing persona. Designed by Porto Rocha with manufacturing by Merchery, the collection utilizes industrial motifs—ranging from concrete walls and metal grating to stainless steel transit environments—to anchor the brand in the visceral grit of the urban experience. The execution moves seamlessly between crisp commercial shots and gritty, analogue-style lifestyle photography, using the grain and tactile quality of film to elevate simple items like canvas totes and embroidered baseball caps into collectible artifacts. By integrating subtle typographic details like the celebratory 50 Years in the Making message with raw, architectural backdrops, the identity channels a sense of understated cool. The use of natural light throughout the campaign underscores the authenticity of the design, ensuring that the heavy-duty textures of the museum's industrial surroundings harmonize with the clean, modern aesthetic of the new branding. Ultimately, this comprehensive identity system establishes MoMA PS1 as a living, breathing component of the city, perfectly capturing the spirit of the arts institution for its next half-century of influence.
