Massimo Dutti 1985 Perfumes Collection

May 2026
Massimo Dutti continues its legacy of sophisticated elegance with the launch of the 1985 Perfumes Collection, a fragrance campaign that leans into architectural minimalism to define the essence of the scent. Through the lens of photographer Cristian Hunter, the campaign masterfully explores the intersection of form, light, and materiality, moving away from traditional beauty tropes to embrace a more disciplined, editorial aesthetic. By utilizing both natural light and dramatic low-key chiaroscuro techniques, the imagery transforms a standard product showcase into a series of cinematic fine art studies. The visual narrative centers on the stark, rectangular geometry of the perfume bottle, which is cast against raw, weathered concrete and grainy stone surfaces to create a bold dialogue between man-made luxury and the grit of the physical world. Hunter leverages macro photography to capture the clinical clarity of the glass, while the strategic use of sharp, directional shadows acts as a primary design element, slicing through the composition to emphasize texture and structural integrity. The result is a highly tactile, monochromatic experience that feels both timeless and contemporary, proving that an effective fragrance campaign need not rely on excess. Instead, it finds its strength in the interplay of shadows and the clean, modern sans-serif typography that grounds the collection in the brand’s established heritage.
