First Instinct - TOKYO is a fashion editorial series for Manifesto Magazine that documents an intimate, grounded perspective on urban life. Photographer Louie Cobo captures model Meg Fuji against the industrial backdrop of Tokyo’s streetscapes, blending high-fashion silhouettes with the raw, textural grit of the city. The series leans into a documentary aesthetic, utilizing analogue film to render the environment with rich grain and evocative light. Technically refined yet atmospheric, the work balances sharp monochromatic portraits with warm-toned shots taken during the golden hour. The visual narrative is punctuated by architectural details, natural light, and candid movement, with hair styling by Rie Shiraishi and editing by Jonathan Yee providing a cohesive, polished edge to the project’s deliberate, nostalgic quality.
