First Instinct - TOKYO is a fashion editorial produced for Manifesto Magazine that explores the intersection of high-contrast street style and urban architecture. Photographed by Louie Cobo, the series features model Meg Fuji navigating the city’s industrial environments, ranging from corrugated metal backdrops to traditional street-side storefronts. The project leans into an analogue aesthetic, utilizing film grain and natural light to create a documentary-inspired atmosphere. The imagery blends fashion portraits with atmospheric cityscape details, incorporating textures like calligraphy, koi, and heavy metallic surfaces to ground the editorial in its setting. Supporting the visual execution, Rie Shiraishi provided hair styling, while editorial editing was managed by Jonathan Yee.
