Foreign Familiar is an editorial project for King Kong Magazine, captured by photographer Jeff Hahn. The series moves through a variety of urban environments, ranging from elevated rooftop overlooks and industrial waterfronts to subterranean stairwells and bustling city streets. The work leverages natural light and golden hour illumination to establish a moody, cinematic atmosphere. Through the use of analogue film techniques and high-contrast, low-key lighting, the images emphasize the relationship between human subjects and the dense architecture of their metropolitan surroundings. The series features a diverse cast of subjects, utilizing dynamic composition and atmospheric color grading to explore themes of presence within the modern cityscape.
