GQ Turkey
The Four Elements

Jul 2026
The Four Elements for GQ Turkey serves as a masterclass in modern editorial portraiture, stripping away the excess of traditional fashion media to focus on the raw interplay between human form and foundational environmental concepts. Through a series of highly composed portraits, the project navigates a conceptual landscape where the fluidity of air, the intensity of fire, and the permanence of earth are mirrored in the styling and materiality of the garments. Photographer Nicola Surbera employs a sophisticated blend of studio strobe and natural light to emphasize these diverse textures, ranging from the delicate opacity of crinkled plastic to the weight of structured wool and fine mesh. Fashion director Anil Can and stylist Giorgio Andrea Branduardi curate an aesthetic that leans into minimalist contemporary tailoring, allowing hair stylists Manuel Sunda and Veronica Fiorello to maintain a clean, textured focus that keeps the emphasis firmly on the sartorial narrative. Captured with precision, the series features model Brando Erba, whose versatile presence grounds the more abstract, high-fashion elements of the shoot. Whether utilizing projected light to simulate visceral heat or employing translucent fabrics to evoke the weightlessness of air, the project functions as a cohesive study in contrasts. By balancing saturated red tones with earthy, muted palettes, the team delivers an elevated visual experience that honors the rigorous craftsmanship of luxury fashion while maintaining the sharp, accessible edge synonymous with the publication.
