State of Play is a fashion editorial series for GQ Australia that captures a cross-section of modern masculinity. Shot by photographer Rob Tennent and produced by Charlotte Rose, the collection balances studio-based portraiture with candid, documentary-style imagery. The project leans into an analogue aesthetic, utilizing Kodak Portra 400 film and visible rebate markings to establish a textured, timeless quality. From clean, minimalist studio portraits set against stark white backgrounds to sun-drenched outdoor scenes and rural settings, the work highlights a diverse range of subjects and personal styles. Through a mix of high-fashion tailoring, athletic wear, and casual apparel, the series offers a visual survey of contemporary identities.
