Fantastic Man
Perplexity

Apr 2026
In the latest editorial project for Fantastic Man, titled Perplexity, the intersection of menswear and high-fashion is explored through a lens of stark, minimalist geometry. Under the creative direction of Jop van Bennekom, the campaign leans into a monochromatic palette, stripping away environmental noise to place full focus on the tactile interplay of layered silhouettes and unconventional garment construction. Photographer Felipe Romero Beltrán captures the duality of the masculine form with a soft, even approach to natural light, rendering the collection’s intricate textiles—from knotted fringe skirts to sheer, gathered white tunics—with clinical precision. Working in tandem with fashion editor and stylist Jodie Barnes, the imagery avoids traditional poses, favoring instead a contemplative, almost sculptural stillness that feels quintessentially Fantastic Man. Models Aleksandr Gordeev and Youssef Rocha anchor the series, their expressions deliberately neutral to emphasize the architectural quality of the designs. The project’s reliance on portraiture techniques and clean, studio-lit environments highlights the raw texture of the distressed concrete floors and off-white backdrops, grounding the conceptual styling in a tangible reality. By utilizing both natural light and controlled studio strobe, the production achieves a crisp, editorial aesthetic that interrogates the boundaries of contemporary men’s fashion, ultimately presenting a sophisticated, understated dialogue between the human subject and the avant-garde clothing they inhabit.
