Invasive Parts

May 2026
Invasive Parts for Family Style stands as a masterclass in editorial fashion photography, meticulously blurring the lines between high-concept luxury and industrial art. Captured through the sharp lens of photographer Arash Khaksari, the project explores a surreal landscape where avant-garde garment construction meets mechanical abstraction. Styled by fashion editor Nathan Klein, the imagery leans into a rigid, clinical aesthetic where models like Eduarda Muehlmann and Nanne Groenewegen are framed against stark, monochromatic studio settings. The visual narrative relies on studio strobe lighting to emphasize the juxtaposition between flowing, voluminous fabrics and the harsh, linear geometry of custom-built metallic apparatuses and spools. With hair artistry by Ryo Narushima and precise makeup by Lisa Michalik, the subjects are transformed into futuristic silhouettes, often obscured by improvised headpieces or complex magnifying lenses. The project successfully employs a variety of techniques, including high-key studio strobe setups, analogue film textures, and dramatic low-key chiaroscuro, to create a cinematic and highly tactile experience. Through the vision of casting director Anita Bitton and the precise set design of David Curtis-Ring, Invasive Parts functions as both a high-fashion editorial statement and an exploration of human interaction with industrial debris. This cohesive series defines a modern, intellectual approach to fashion photography that prioritizes graphic tension, texture, and the transformative power of structural tailoring in a minimalist space.
