Description

FIRE OF LOVE, A Tribute to Katia Krafft, is a fashion editorial for Dust Magazine China that explores the intersection of raw geological power and avant-garde design. Photographed by Kin Chan Coedel, the series draws inspiration from the life and work of volcanologist Katia Krafft, placing models in stark, volcanic landscapes. Creative direction by Dou Qianlin and styling by Francesca Parise anchor the narrative, juxtaposing the desolate, dark rock formations with high-fashion silhouettes. The imagery employs analogue film techniques and natural light to capture atmospheric, cinematic textures, ranging from billowy, voluminous capes to structured metallic garments. The project highlights an interplay between the volatile, elemental environment—marked by flowing lava and ash plumes—and intentional, sculptural fashion choices. Makeup artistry by Luca Cianciolo and casting by David Chen round out the production, which emphasizes form, movement, and the dramatic contrast between human figures and the earth’s most rugged terrain.
