About

For the Dior Spring 2024 campaign, creative director Maria Grazia Chiuri orchestrates a masterclass in editorial minimalism, leaning into a scholarly and deeply cinematic narrative. Captured by photographer Tina Barney, the series unfolds within the storied confines of grand, historic libraries and classically appointed apartments, where the interplay of light and shadow—utilizing both natural light and studio strobe—elevates the collection’s intricate textures. The imagery channels a refined, moody atmosphere, as models Alice McGrath and Rosanna Ovalles navigate these ornate spaces dressed in a stark monochromatic palette of black lace, structured blazers, and crisp white shirting, punctuated by the occasional soft cream ensemble. This juxtaposition of delicate, layered fabrics against rigid architectural backdrops like deep red tufted sofas and dark wood-paneled walls emphasizes a timeless luxury. The styling, helmed by Elin Svahn, pairs these sophisticated silhouettes with practical edge, such as lace-up gladiator sandals and bold metallic hardware on quilted handbags. With hair by Damien Boissinot and makeup by Peter Philips, the campaign avoids artifice, opting instead for a polished, static elegance that feels both storied and contemporary.
