Billy

Mar 2026
In the highly competitive world of luxury fashion houses, capturing the soul of a garment requires more than just technical precision; it demands a dialogue between texture, silhouette, and human expression. The project titled Billy acts as a masterclass in editorial minimalism, stripping away the excess of the modern runway to focus on the raw, intrinsic quality of high-end tailoring. Photographer Hicham Riad leans into a sophisticated, understated visual language that masterfully balances high-key lighting with occasional, dramatic chiaroscuro to define form and character. Through the lens, model Billie Kennes provides a striking presence, her neutral, direct gaze anchoring a series of compositions that range from sharp, studio-lit portraits to ethereal, natural light captures. Working in close collaboration with fashion editor and stylist Ilja De Weerdt, the project elevates wardrobe staples—such as structured blazers and tactile knitwear—into an intimate, visual narrative. By juxtaposing close-up product details with the human form, the team creates a rhythm that feels both accessible and aspirational. Techniques like the use of studio strobe are thoughtfully applied to enhance fabric density, while the editorial lens frames each look with a clarity that recalls the polished pages of heritage publications. Ultimately, this collection serves as a refined study in quiet luxury, proving that when the aesthetic is sufficiently considered, the most powerful statement is often found in the deliberate use of negative space and uncompromising focus.
