Coinbase: System Update
Brand
Date
Aug 2025
Description
Coinbase presents System Update, a commercial project that channels a retro computer terminal aesthetic to represent technical financial data. The motion graphics feature a stark blue backdrop punctuated by scrolling monospaced fonts and diagnostic code blocks. The visual narrative utilizes CRT-style scanline artifacts to transition between simulated database operations and abstract, data-driven patterns. Developed in collaboration with agency Isle of Any, with sound design by Wave Studios NY, the work leans into a precise, programmatic visual language.
