Kids Hair Story "Fourteen" is a focused editorial series for Beyond Noise that captures the versatility and movement of hair through a range of distinct, youthful perspectives. Photographed by Mari Sarai, the project leans into a minimalist aesthetic to highlight individual texture and personal style, from voluminous afros and box braids to intricate waves and crimped finishes. Technique-wise, the work utilizes monochrome tones and analogue film grain to build a nostalgic, raw quality. Each frame employs soft, directional lighting against clean studio backgrounds, keeping the focus entirely on the interplay between the subjects' hair and their carefully curated, eclectic wardrobe choices. Creative direction is driven by the collaboration between photographer Mari Sarai, hair stylist Tomo Jidai, and makeup artist Ayaka Nihei. The result is a clean, intimate exploration of beauty and character.
