Description

Behind the Sunset is a sprawling fashion editorial for GQ Turkey that channels an introspective, coastal aesthetic. Through a series of high-contrast monochrome and desaturated color compositions, the project navigates the intersection of raw sculptural form and the minimalist serenity of the shoreline. Photographer Dan-Cristian Gocan anchors the narrative in soft natural light, using the interplay between weathered driftwood, rocky formations, and expansive ocean horizons to frame his subjects. The editorial draws its visual strength from a recurring sense of contemplative tension, alternating between moody, cinematic portraiture and dynamic, athletic movement. Fashion direction by Anil Can and styling by Giorgio Ammirabile lean into dramatic silhouettes—pairing voluminous, sculptural outerwear with stark, monochromatic basics—to enhance the tactile quality of the series. Featuring models Denis Jovanovic, Paco Diouf, Simone Bricchi, and Yves Diatta, the work creates a timeless, layered aesthetic that emphasizes both the physical presence of the figures and the subdued textures of the landscape.
