LSD x Guido

Mar 2026
In a striking collaboration for 72 Magazine, the LSD x Guido project serves as a masterclass in editorial minimalism and the power of monochromatic storytelling. With creative direction from the legendary Guido Palau, who also serves as the lead hair stylist, the series transcends traditional portraiture to celebrate the intersection of fashion and structural sculpture. Through the lens of photographer Willy Lukaitis, the images lean into high-contrast chiaroscuro lighting to isolate and amplify the intricate artistry of the hair. Each composition, ranging from an architectural beehive to a sleek, knot-detailed ponytail, feels less like a typical fashion spread and more like an immersive study of form and texture. The project makes sophisticated use of studio strobe techniques to define the hair’s volume against neutral, seamless backdrops, allowing the collaboration between stylist Tonne Goodman and makeup artist Diane Kendal to shine through in every precise line and dramatic detail. By capturing the subjects in motion or fixed in bold, symmetrical poses, the team creates a visual language that is both timeless and undeniably modern. This series effectively channels a high-fashion aesthetic while maintaining a sense of organic movement, proving that even within the strictly controlled environment of the studio, the interplay between natural light and carefully curated shadow can yield a dynamic, evocative, and deeply polished final result.
