FACE VALUE

Mar 2026
In the striking FACE VALUE project for 10 Magazine, the intersection of architectural tailoring and high-contrast editorial minimalism takes center stage. Photographed by Arseny Jabiev, the series functions as a masterclass in fashion portraiture, stripping away the noise to focus entirely on the dialogue between subject and silhouette. Guided by the vision of fashion editors Carolina Orrico and Toby Grimditch, the editorial pushes the boundaries of luxury fashion houses, utilizing a mix of bold, vibrant orange backdrops and stark, monochromatic studio settings to ground the avant-garde designs. The visual language is defined by a rigorous focus on texture and form, where the precision of Kabuto Okuzawa’s sharp, structural haircuts and Alex Levy’s clean, deliberate makeup application frame the models, including Lena Mantler, with intense clarity. Utilizing techniques ranging from meticulous studio strobe lighting to soft, diffused natural light, each portrait highlights the tactile nature of the garments—from feather-heavy skirts to laser-cut tunics. By prioritizing clean compositions and high-contrast styling, the project elevates clothing to the status of sculpture. The casting, overseen by Clare Rhodes, ensures that each subject holds their own against the elaborate constructions, resulting in a cohesive portfolio that reads as both a love letter to craftsmanship and a definitive statement on the current state of luxury fashion storytelling through the lens.
