Théo de Gueltzl, a Parisian native, embodies the spirit of artistic exploration, having honed his craft at Central Saint Martins in London, where he graduated in 2014. While initially rooted in fine art, de Gueltzl forged a remarkable partnership with Hermès, lending his intricate drawings to their textile designs, which reflect his unique aesthetic vision. Parallel to his artistic endeavors, photography emerged as a passionate pursuit, allowing him to document his travels and the diverse tapestry of human experience. De Gueltzl’s photographic approach transcends traditional boundaries, merging sculptural form with a nuanced exploration of character and narrative. His work, deeply anchored in the authenticity of travel documentary, embraces an ethereal quality, seamlessly blending his interests in the environment, fine art, and fashion. At the core of his practice lies a profound empathy, celebrating the cultures, communities, and landscapes he encounters, while simultaneously innovating new ways to frame fashion within these contexts. In addition to his ongoing design practice, de Gueltzl recently completed a poignant animated video for Bob Marley’s iconic ‘Redemption Song,’ commissioned by the Marley family to commemorate what would have been Marley’s 75th birthday. His artistic journey has been marked by numerous exhibitions, including a notable solo show at Red Hook Labs in New York as part of their new artists program in 2017. In October 2020, he unveiled a compelling series of personal work captured in Los Angeles just before the onset of the Covid-19 pandemic. De Gueltzl’s work has garnered attention in prestigious publications such as Vogue Paris, Vogue US, M Le Magazine du Monde, AnOther, and More or Less, with commissioned projects featuring renowned brands like Hermès and Louis Vuitton.
