Richard Phibbs is a visionary photographer whose artistry transcends the boundaries of advertising, editorial, and fine art. His lens captures not only the visual essence but also the emotional depth of his subjects, creating images that resonate on a profound level. With a portfolio that spans the globe, Phibbs's work has graced the pages of prestigious publications such as Harper’s Bazaar (UK, Japan, Spain, and Saudi Arabia), Greek Vogue, Vogue China, Vanity Fair, and GQ Russia. He has collaborated with iconic brands including Giorgio Armani, Ralph Lauren, Calvin Klein, Thom Browne, Banana Republic, Nike, Wolford, Tommy Hilfiger, Tumi, and Jaeger-Lecoultre, showcasing his ability to blend commercial appeal with artistic integrity. His fine art photography is held in the private collections of notable figures, including former President Bill Clinton, fashion mogul Ralph Lauren, filmmaker Francis Ford Coppola, entertainment executive Michael Eisner, and journalist Anderson Cooper. Phibbs’s portraits reveal the intimate humanity of a diverse array of subjects—from Meryl Streep and Beyoncé to Rafael Nadal and Hilary Clinton—each image a testament to his keen eye for poignant storytelling. A seasoned director, Phibbs brings his unique visual sensibility to film, having directed campaigns for Ralph Lauren, Banana Republic, Thom Browne, and Wolford. His short film, *The Turkish Wrestler*, has garnered accolades at esteemed film festivals, earning the Best Documentary Short at the 2016 LAIFF and Hollywood Film Festivals, as well as Best Cinematography Documentary at the Madrid IFF in 2017. Phibbs is also the author of several critically acclaimed books. *Rescue Me* (2016) is a touching collection of portraits and heartwarming stories of shelter dogs, while *The West* (2015) offers an introspective glimpse into the beauty and authenticity of North America's western landscapes and its inhabitants. His first book, *Chasing Beauty* (2010), showcases a decade of personal work that reflects his artistic evolution. A passionate for animal rights, Phibbs has dedicated his work to raising awareness for abandoned animals. He has photographed over 700 homeless pets for the Humane Society of New York and recently captured the spirits of more than 100 dogs for Takis Shelter in Crete, Greece, with each portrait aiding in their search for loving homes. Currently, Phibbs is immersed in multiple book projects and a meaningful collaboration with The Sheldrick Trust in Kenya, where he continues to support their mission of rescuing and rehabilitating orphaned elephants and rhinos. Born and raised in Canada, Phibbs holds degrees from the University of Toronto and Parsons School of Design in New York. He now divides his time between the vibrant cities of Barcelona and New York, where he continues to explore the intersections of art, compassion, and storytelling through his photography.
