Bio
Letizia Le Fur is a distinguished artist whose journey began at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts in Paris, where she graduated in 1998, initially honing her craft as a painter. Inspired by the visionary guidance of artist and Valérie Belin, Le Fur transitioned her focus to photography, embarking on an aesthetic exploration that marries her painterly background with the medium's unique capabilities. Her photographic work delves into the realms of beauty and a reimagined otherworld, employing a meticulous approach to color that echoes her roots in painting. Just as a painter skillfully mixes pigments, Le Fur isolates, transforms, and amplifies hues, crafting compositions that transcend the boundaries of reality and evoke a dreamlike atmosphere. Le Fur's artistry has garnered significant recognition, including nominations for the prestigious Niepce Prize (2022) and multiple accolades such as the Leica/Alpine Prize (2018), the Grande Commande Photographique from the Bibliothèque nationale de Paris (2022), and the Fenêtres Ouvertes Prize organized by the Maison Européenne de la Photographie (2020). She has participated as an artist-in-residence at notable festivals, including Planches Contact in Deauville (2020) and InCadaques (2021). In addition to her artistic pursuits, Le Fur collaborates with renowned publications and brands, including AD, The New York Times, and Milk. Her literary contributions include the acclaimed series "Mythologies," published by Editions Rue du Bouquet, with the first two chapters released in 2021 and the third in 2022. As a Leica ambassador since 2019, Le Fur continues to push the boundaries of her craft. Currently, she is preparing for her upcoming solo exhibition at the French Institute in Madrid, promising to captivate audiences with her innovative vision and artistry.
