Joshua Kissi is a dynamic Ghanaian-American filmmaker, photographer, and creative director based in New York. His work serves as a vibrant celebration of underrepresented communities, viewed through a rich cultural and historical lens. Kissi's powerful films and striking photographs illuminate narratives often left untold, crafted with intentionality, respect, and a genuine connection to the subjects he portrays. As an artist, he is dedicated to empowering communities of color, challenging stereotypes, and fostering a deeper understanding of humanity through his evocative imagery. His artistic voice is both soulful and distinctive, offering a fresh perspective on the world that resonates with audiences. Notable clients include Beats by Dre, Nike, Google, NYT Style Magazine, InStyle, Vogue, and the New York Times Op Docs, among others. Raised in the Bronx, Kissi developed a passion for the arts despite limited access to creative industries. His journey began as the co- of Street Etiquette, a groundbreaking blog that chronicled men's fashion with a focus on Black male identity. The platform quickly gained traction, earning features in prestigious publications such as GQ, Complex, Essence, and Fantastic Man. The New York Times even spotlighted its cultural impact in the article "Serious About Cool." In addition to his individual accomplishments, Kissi is the co- of See in Black, a collective of 80 Black photographers committed to elevating Black visibility in the visual arts. He is also a of TONL, a transformative stock photography company that seeks to accurately represent the diverse narratives often overlooked in mainstream media. Kissi's contributions to the arts have not gone unnoticed; he was named one of Inc. Magazine’s “30 Under 30” and recently recognized as one of Fast Company’s 100 Most Creative People.
