Jamie Lau is a dynamic visual storyteller whose work transcends the ordinary and immerses viewers in the vibrant worlds of food, drink, and culture. He seamlessly navigates the bustling realms of restaurants, homes, and florists, capturing the essence of each through his lens in his studio and beyond. With an exceptional eye for composition and a masterful command of light, Jamie crafts striking images that celebrate the artistry of people, places, and the culinary creations they produce. A seasoned collaborator, Jamie excels at working alongside stylists, writers, and art directors to deliver compelling visuals tailored to the unique needs of his diverse clientele. His portfolio boasts prestigious names such as Soho House, You Magazine, Waitrose, Eurostar, and Marks & Spencer, alongside a rich tapestry of Michelin-starred restaurants, private members' clubs, pop-up venues, gastro pubs, and street food stalls across London, Sussex, and the broader United Kingdom. In addition to his food and drink photography, Jamie's portraiture shines a spotlight on influential figures in the culinary world, including restaurateurs, chefs, food writers, and notable personalities from television and radio. His subjects often hold distinguished accolades such as BAFTAs, OBEs, and CBEs, underscoring Jamie's ability to capture the essence of excellence. With over a decade of experience in the publishing industry, Jamie's journey began as a photo editor for renowned publications including The Guardian, Time Out, Seven, and John Brown. He honed his artistic skills at the Slade School of Fine Art, where he earned an MA in 2011, specializing in photography and sculpture. In 2014, he gained recognition for his commissioned work by Open Eye Gallery, producing a compelling photographic series on Liverpool’s Chinatown, which was exhibited alongside acclaimed photographer Martin Parr in a prestigious group show. Currently based between Hove, East Sussex, and his studio in Hackney, London, Jamie Lau continues to push the boundaries of visual art, inviting viewers to experience the beauty and complexity of the culinary landscape through his captivating imagery.
