Isamu Sawa

Isamu Sawa was born in Tokyo, Japan, but migrated to Australia early in his life. Based in Melbourne, “Issey” began working as a professional photographer over 20 years ago, producing striking images for commercial clients and more recently developing his fine art practice. His highly refined, clean, graphic style has led him to a specialisation in still life, portrait and automotive photography, producing highly technical campaigns for international car brands such as Mercedes Benz, Mazda, Holden, Subaru, MINI, GM, Toyota and Mitsubishi. Across both his commercial and personal work, Issey has adopted and mastered a sophisticated macro photography technique called ‘focus stacking’. This precise merging of digital files creates images with an altered depth of field and a unique visual effect. Constantly in high demand with advertising agency clients, Issey has shot campaigns for Care Super, Penfolds, Fridcorp, Paul Bram and Domaine Chandon. He has exhibited photographic works at galleries in Melbourne and Sydney.
