Bio
Henry Hargreaves, born and raised in the vibrant city of Christchurch, New Zealand, cultivated a diverse array of interests during his formative years, ranging from painting and drawing to the unconventional pursuits of bootlegging and cricket. Inspired by the remarkable stories of his late grandfather, Edgar Charles Hargreaves, a WWII hero, Henry developed a profound yearning for adventure and a passion for exploring the extraordinary. After earning a degree in Film and American Studies from the University of Canterbury, Henry embarked on an unexpected journey into the world of high fashion. He quickly became a sought-after model, collaborating with iconic photographers such as Stephen Meisel, Mario Testino, and the legendary Richard Avedon, gracing the runways of the world’s most prestigious fashion houses. Yet, it was in the lens of a camera that Henry discovered his true calling. Seeking to transition from the transient lifestyle of modeling, he made a bold move to New York, establishing his creative base in the eclectic neighborhood of Williamsburg, Brooklyn. As a photographer, Henry has crafted a wide-ranging body of work that spans commercial collaborations with brands like Ralph Lauren, Sagmeister & Walsh, GQ, and The New York Times, alongside provocative personal projects including his bestselling books "3DD: A 3D Celebration of Breasts," and thought-provoking photo series such as "No Seconds," "Band Riders," and "Deep Fried Gadgets." What unifies Henry’s work is a restless curiosity and an unyielding fascination with the unusual. Through his photography, he seeks to illuminate the world around us, spark meaningful conversations, and challenge our perceptions, inviting viewers to explore the extraordinary in the everyday.
