Bio
Gizelle Hernandez is a distinguished Mexican American photographer, filmmaker, and visual storyteller whose evocative imagery captivates audiences and subjects alike. Growing up in Los Angeles, Gizelle's love for photography was ignited during her high school years, where she could often be found immersed in her craft, wielding a film or video camera, and exploring the depths of the darkroom. Initially, Gizelle ventured down a different path, working as a 911 Operator—a role that kept her in the shadows of a control room, surrounded by screens. Yet, it was in that dimly lit environment that she experienced a pivotal moment of clarity: a profound realization that she needed to embrace her true passion for visual storytelling. With renewed determination, she left behind the chaos of emergency calls to pursue a formal education in art. Gizelle honed her skills at the prestigious Art Center College of Design, where she earned her B.F.A. in Photography and Imaging. Today, her work is characterized by a unique ability to create immersive worlds for her subjects, each image a narrative that unveils their authentic selves. Through meticulous art direction, striking color palettes, and thoughtful lighting, Gizelle crafts visually stunning compositions that foster a deep connection between her subjects and the viewer. Her signature style—marked by cinematic lighting, innovative set design, and vibrant hues—has garnered attention from a diverse range of high-profile clients, including Apple, Adidas, Paramount, Netflix, Numéro, Nike, Time, Variety, STARZ, Vans, OPI, Disney, Born x Raised, and Violet Grey. With each project, Gizelle Hernandez continues to push the boundaries of visual storytelling, inviting audiences into the rich, layered worlds she creates.
