Bio
Dan Freene ACS is an award-winning cinematographer actively working across television series, feature films, documentaries and commercials. Most recently, Dan Freene ACS completed principal photography on the BBC/ABC Co-produced series, The Queen of Oz, created by and featuring British comedian/actor Catherine Tate. Directed by Christian VanVuuren (Sunburnt Christmas, Soul Mates, Over and Out,) produced by Michele Bennett (Mr Inbetween, Judy and Punch, Chopper,) and Lingo Pictures (Upright, Lambs of God.) In the first half of 2022, Dan shot the highly anticipated Netflix comedy series starring Celeste Barber, Wellmania (Dir. Erin White, Helena Brooks, producer Bree Ann Sykes, EP Warren Clarke, Fremantle Australia.) Wellmania will available on Netflix globally from Jan/Feb 2023. Other recent television credits include the CANNES Short Form winning comedy Series, “OVER and OUT”, created by the Van Vuuren Brothers, Midwinter Films, Jungle Entertainment, Season 2 of the popular ABC comedy, “Squinters,” created by Trent O'Donnell, and Adam Zwar, and Season 1 of “Soul Mates” the ABC hit comedy series, featuring the popular “Bondi Hipsters,” Jungle Entertainment. In 2015 Dan Shot the Gold ACS Winning Netflix Sci-Fi Feature Film, “OtherLife,” (dir. Ben C Lucas) and in 2011 he shot the critically acclaimed Feature Film “Wasted on The Young,” (dir. Ben C Lucas.) Paramount. Best known for his flexibility, visual story telling, his understanding of light and ability to make his leading actors look their very best, Dan has earned a reputation of being a master cinematographer that can deliver amazing results in a variety of challenging situations.
