Bio

Benjamin Rasmussen’s artistic journey is as diverse as the landscapes he has traversed. Growing up amidst an indigenous community on a remote island in the southern Philippines, he developed a deep appreciation for cultural narratives and human connections. His university years in a small northern Arkansas town, surrounded by evangelical influences, further enriched his understanding of faith and community. This unique tapestry of experiences continued to unfold during a transformative year spent with the descendants of Vikings in the Faroe Islands, a breathtaking archipelago of just 45,000 residents nestled in the North Atlantic. In 2014, Rasmussen garnered critical acclaim when he was named one of PDN's 30 New and Emerging Photographers to Watch, a testament to his innovative vision and compelling storytelling. His work has not only been featured in the prestigious American Photography Annuals but has also earned recognition as a finalist for the Leica Oskar Barnack Award, highlighting his significant contribution to contemporary photography. Through his lens, Rasmussen invites viewers to explore the intricate layers of culture, identity, and the human experience.
