Born in the vibrant city of Hong Kong, Alexandra Leese is a visual storyteller whose work intricately weaves together her rich cultural heritage with a strikingly contemporary aesthetic. With a keen eye for color and composition, Leese crafts narratives that resonate on multiple levels, inviting viewers to engage with her unique perspective. Leese honed her artistic skills at Chelsea College of Art and the London College of Fashion, where she developed a profound understanding of visual media during her internship with renowned photographer and filmmaker Wing Shya. Her acclaimed publication, *Boys of Hong Kong* (2018), alongside her exhibition installation recently featured at FOAM in Amsterdam, serves as a powerful exploration of her reconnection with her Chinese upbringing. Through this work, she delves into the complexities of masculinity in modern China, all while examining the nuances of the female gaze. In 2019, Leese self-published *Yumi and The Moon*, an internationally praised zine that reinterprets the beloved Japanese tale of Kaguya Hime, the ‘Moon Princess’. This work showcases her ability to blend folklore with contemporary themes, further establishing her voice in the global art scene. As her reputation grows, Leese's commissioned projects are increasingly sought after, with collaborations that include renowned brands such as Asai, Marc Jacobs, Helmut Lang, Bershka, and publications like i-D and Self Service.
