Description

This still life photograph by Gentl And Hyers features an arrangement of tall, slender brass and black candlesticks set upon a dark green marble surface. Wisps of delicate smoke rise from several of the holders, while one solitary white candle stands partially lit on the far right. The composition is captured against a moody, dark textured backdrop that accentuates the metallic sheens and reflections on the polished stone. The dramatic lighting creates long, sharp shadows stretching across the foreground, highlighting the varied heights and materials of the candleholders.
