Anita Calero, Photographer, New York

Description

This photograph by Anita Calero captures a vertical rectangular wooden plank resting upright among vibrant green grass. The surface of the wood is heavily textured, displaying a dramatic pattern of dark score marks, gouges, and patches of peeling white paint that radiate across the grain. The lower portion of the board shows splatters of bright white paint against the weathered brown wood. A small vine with rounded green leaves crosses the base of the plank in the lower left corner. The natural daylight highlights the tactile grain and the distressed details of the wooden surface.
