The Vol. I 2026 'Best Performances' portfolio for W Magazine provides an immersive look into the cinematic craft behind the year's most notable on-screen roles. Photographed by Tyrone Lebon, the series moves away from traditional, static cover imagery, instead leaning into a raw, documentary-style aesthetic that exposes the mechanics of production. The editorial captures talent on actual soundstages and film sets, with lighting rigs, crew members, and camera equipment deliberately left in frame to blur the line between subject and process. Creative directors Charles Levai and Kevin Tekinel guide the visual narrative, which draws on techniques ranging from analogue film and polaroid-inspired layouts to sharp, direct flash. Under the fashion direction of Sara Moonves and Allia Alliata di Montereale, the subjects are portrayed in candid, behind-the-scenes environments. The result is a multi-perspective archive that emphasizes the artifice and atmosphere of filmmaking through high-contrast imagery and gritty, editorial storytelling.
