La Gema

May 2026
La Gema stands as a masterclass in fashion editorial portraiture, where the interplay of couture textiles and high-jewellery creates a visual narrative of sophisticated luxury. Across this series, photographer Vincent Kabbara demonstrates a rigorous command of light, utilizing studio strobe techniques to meticulously articulate the textures of the subjects—from the tactile depth of white feathers to the metallic luster of sapphire-encrusted necklaces. The work leans into a deliberate, architectural aesthetic, supported by the visionary styling of fashion editor Tania Tuka and the precise, avant-garde hair styling of Vasso Vasiliki Stathopoulou. The project consistently utilizes a bold, high-contrast color palette, where deep burgundy and solid black backdrops force the viewer to engage with the intricate details of each garment and accessory. By layering sculptural silhouettes with wet-look waves and metallic hair clips, the creative team constructs a series of images that transcend traditional fashion documentation, instead prioritizing a sense of tactile realism and elegant poise. Every frame acts as an exercise in editorial minimalism, ensuring that the interplay between the model’s natural skin textures and the opulent ornamentation remains the primary focus. This collection effectively balances raw, grounded humanity with the heightened, stylized world of luxury fashion, solidifying its place as a compelling exploration of contemporary portrait craft.
