Arxipelag - Whispers & wonders is a compelling editorial and documentary series that explores the intricate textures and visual storytelling of traditional folk costumes. Photographed by Mateusz Stefanowski, the project documents diverse ceremonial figures set against both stark winter landscapes and pastoral outdoor environments. The series leans into the tactile nature of regional heritage, capturing figures adorned with elaborate masks, layered textiles, and oversized headwear. Using analogue film and natural light, Stefanowski emphasizes the rich patterns and organic geometry of the garments, from sequined heart motifs to shaggy coats and tall conical hats.
