Various Covers
Home Fries Issue 6

Dec 2025
For the sixth issue of Home Fries, Various Covers leans into a surreal, avant-garde perspective that pushes the boundaries of contemporary designer fashion. This editorial project channels a whimsical energy, effectively dismantling the traditional portrait through a fragmented collage technique that segments the subject into a rhythmic, grid-like arrangement. Model Kaya Wilkins serves as the central figure, draped in intricate, layered floral textiles that oscillate between pastel softness and bold, saturated hues. Photographer Mel Bles captures these moments with sharp studio strobe lighting, ensuring that every detail—from the sheen of silver sequined gloves to the delicate texture of a seashell—remains crisp and intentional. The work is elevated by the tactile vision of stylist Celestine Cooney, whose careful curation of voluminous silhouettes and eclectic fabric pairings anchors the otherwise experimental composition. By utilizing a cinematic sensibility within these studio-based constraints, the team creates an editorial zine aesthetic that feels both raw and highly polished. With meticulous hair styling by Mari Ohashi and precise makeup application by Rebecca Wordingham, the project transforms static portraiture into a dynamic visual narrative. This collaboration demonstrates how high-fashion photography can prioritize texture and conceptual playfulness, resulting in a distinct visual identity that challenges the viewer to engage with the garment as an architectural element rather than mere attire.
