Description

For the Sports Mania project, Vanity Fair Italia pushes the boundaries of the luxury fashion house aesthetic by colliding high-end tailoring with the raw, gritty atmosphere of a gym. Photographer Nicolò Parsenziani masterfully captures this tension, utilizing a recurring editorial style that balances refined, sleek apparel against the industrial backdrop of exercise equipment like rowing machines, medicine balls, and boxing gloves. Under the sharp eye of fashion editor Donatella Musco, the styling introduces a sophisticated friction, pairing intricate sequined skirts and stiletto heels with technical windbreakers, oversized boxing gloves, and even an ice hockey helmet. Model Dantè Kedde anchors the series with a cool, grounded intensity, their short-haired, freckled aesthetic providing a blank slate for the vibrant colors and geometric patterns of the wardrobe. The shoot relies heavily on natural light to emphasize the varied material textures—from soft matte fabrics to glossy leathers and metallic surfaces—while hair stylist Chiara Marinosci maintains a clean, minimalist grooming profile that allows the avant-garde silhouettes to take center stage. By leaning into this deliberate juxtaposition, the project transcends traditional fashion photography, effectively creating a cinematic portrait series that feels both athletic and undeniably high-fashion. The result is an evocative study in contrasts, where the discipline of the gym serves as an unexpected, yet perfect, framing device for contemporary luxury.
