Crafting Joy

Sep 2026
V Magazine redefines the boundaries of high fashion in Crafting Joy, an avant-garde editorial campaign that masterfully pivots between structural precision and ethereal movement. Featuring actor Anya Taylor-Joy at the center of this narrative, the project serves as a masterclass in visual storytelling within the designer fashion industry. Photographer Nick Knight captures the essence of the editorial through a lens that prioritizes the dramatic interaction between silhouette and space. The imagery relies on a distinct minimalist aesthetic, utilizing high-key lighting to strip away distractions, effectively turning the model’s voluminous, sculptural garments into the primary subjects of study. This clean, almost clinical studio approach is bolstered by the expert hand of stylist Anna Trevelyan, whose selection of ruffled, translucent, and feather-like materials emphasizes a sense of weightless grandeur. Throughout the series, the use of hard light and intentional flash techniques creates sharp, high-contrast silhouettes that play against the stark, geometric backdrops provided by set designer Andrew Tomlinson. By blending soft, dreamlike textures with the rigidity of a monochromatic color palette, the team succeeds in crafting a visual language that feels both timeless and aggressively contemporary. It is a striking exploration of form, where the interplay of light and shadow elevates the attire into pure artistic expression, solidifying the magazine’s reputation for pushing creative frontiers within the global fashion media landscape.
