Artist Cindy Sherman collaborates with The Face Magazine for an editorial portrait series exploring persona, character study, and theatrical costume. The project leverages Sherman’s signature approach to self-portraiture, utilizing an array of tactile fabrics, prosthetics, and elaborate styling to transform into a diverse range of characters. Through the lens, the work examines the artifice of portraiture within a high-fashion, editorial context. The series features art direction by Sandra Leko and styling by Danny Reed, with editorial leadership provided by Matthew Whitehouse. Each portrait is executed with intentional lighting to emphasize the interplay between matte textiles, glossy finishes, and sculptural costume elements. The result is a surreal and deeply textured collection that anchors the magazine's visual storytelling through saturated, composed imagery.
