The December 2025 special issue of The Cut features an editorial portrait series defined by high-fashion sculptural silhouettes and theatrical set design. Under the creative direction of Editor-in-Chief Lindsay Peoples, the project leans into a minimalist, monochromatic aesthetic that blends mid-century portraiture influences with surreal, diorama-like spatial framing. Photographer Szilveszter Mako captures the series using a desaturated palette, complemented by the sharp, architectural styling of Jessica Willis. The visuals are grounded by precise hair styling from Panos Papandrianos and makeup by Raoul Alejandre, while set designer Lane Vineyard provides the structural interiors that anchor each composition. These portraits emphasize geometry and form through soft studio lighting and varied textures.
