Skull Island Prawns
Making Eat the Wild
Aug 2026
In a daring departure from traditional food and beverage marketing, Skull Island Prawns brings a surreal, rock-and-roll edge to the CPG category with their latest project, Making Eat the Wild. The promotional campaign centers on a whimsical and wildly unexpected visual: a live prawn fronting as a guitarist, shredding on a miniature electric instrument while perched atop a submerged, oversized skull. By blending cinematic, moody underwater environments with high-energy live-action footage of a human musician tracking audio, the production masterfully bridges the gap between the absurd and the professional. The result is a punchy, rhythmic narrative that effectively disrupts the standard culinary aesthetic. This project leans into a hybrid production model, utilizing sophisticated 3D rendering and VFX to bring the crustacean character to life, while relying on the nuanced sound design from the team at FABLE to anchor the concept in reality. Creative lead Lovisa Jaegrell orchestrates this fusion of techniques, ensuring that the moody, nostalgic undertones remain cohesive throughout the fast-paced edit. By rejecting the typical polished, high-key lighting common in food advertising, the work carves out a distinct identity that feels both irreverent and technically ambitious. The campaign serves as a masterclass in creative storytelling, proving that even the most mundane packaged food items can command attention when treated with imaginative, filmic production values and a sharp, stylistic eye.
