ROOTS is a striking monochrome fashion editorial for Numéro Netherlands that explores the intersection of intimacy and urban brutalism. Captured by photographer Inês Santos, the series documents a collective of young men in candid, relaxed compositions against a backdrop of concrete stairways, residential balconies, and outdoor sports courts. The work prioritizes a raw, documentary-style aesthetic that leans heavily into high-contrast natural light and tactile textures. The project synthesizes elements of traditional menswear and casual streetwear, ranging from textured knits and wide-leg denim to performance athletic gear. Through a lens of deliberate minimalism, the imagery emphasizes sculptural anatomy and physical interaction, anchored by an analogue film aesthetic that heightens the gritty quality of the architectural surroundings. The editorial was produced by Ariadna Iglesias, with grooming by makeup artist Diogo Ribeiro.
