Numero Netherlands
LOVE

May 2026
Captured with the quiet reverence of a family album yet elevated through a lens of high fashion, LOVE for Numero Netherlands is a striking editorial series that traverses the intersection of tradition and modernity. Photographer Ivan Bideac anchors the project in a tangible, lived-in reality, utilizing natural light to frame subjects against the backdrop of Japanese landscapes and residential architecture. The work leans into editorial minimalism, eschewing artifice to highlight the human condition through a diverse array of portraits, ranging from the intimate close-up of a sleeping infant to the structured, composed elegance of an elderly couple in traditional kimono. Fashion editor and stylist Shunji Sawai brings a deliberate tension to the imagery, pairing sharp, contemporary silhouettes—such as structured blazers and refined tailoring—with the timeless texture of traditional textiles. By employing 35mm film and cinematic low-key lighting techniques, the series channels a sense of nostalgia that feels both grounded and expansive. Whether positioned against the rugged grandeur of Mount Fuji or the weathered surfaces of a quiet neighborhood street, the project maintains a cohesive, balanced aesthetic. This lifestyle-focused narrative transcends mere garment showcase, becoming a meditation on connection and the passage of time. Through meticulous composition, Bideac and Sawai transform mundane scenes into evocative, painterly stills that demand a slower, more contemplative viewing experience.
