Numero Netherlands BETWEEN SHADOW AND STRUCTURE 2026

About

Between Shadow and Structure for Numero Netherlands serves as a masterclass in the intersection of fine art and high-end fashion photography. Through a curated series of portraits, photographer Mauricio Sanchez explores the duality of the human form against the rigid lines of luxury apparel. The campaign leans into cinematic storytelling, utilizing high-key lighting alongside dramatic chiaroscuro to emphasize the interplay between fabric texture and skin. The execution moves seamlessly from the ethereal, where double exposure techniques blend silhouettes with floral patterns, to the sharp, structural precision of a tailored blazer set against a stark, high-contrast backdrop. The visual narrative relies on the deliberate manipulation of studio strobe and natural light to elevate simple garment details into tactile, iridescent focal points. With editorial direction from Editor-in-Chief Timotej Letonja, the project maintains a sophisticated, refined aesthetic that prioritizes surface detail and clean silhouettes. The creative vision is bolstered by the precise work of hair stylist Olivier Lebrun, who contributes the voluminous, dark curls that ground the portraits, and makeup artist Ana G de V, whose bold applications and dark lip tones harmonize with the vibrant saturation of the clothing. By stripping away visual clutter, the series creates a minimalist yet emotionally resonant space that celebrates the intersection of artistic concept and modern editorial fashion.
